Hivos International

Annual Coworking Summit (CWS)

The Hivos Coworking Summit is an annual gathering for founders and managers of coworking, hacker, maker, and art spaces from all over Africa. The Summit empowers these spaces by giving their founders and managers the opportunity to connect with one another, share experiences and expand their networks to a regional and international level.

More than just a place to work, coworking and innovation spaces serve as an anchor for communities of young, motivated individuals. These spaces are transforming the ways in which people work, creating new types of jobs, and reinvigorating the cultural life of their cities.

2017 edition and partnership with Afrilabs

In October 2017, Hivos partnered with Afrilabs to organise the third edition of the summit. Afrilabs is the largest pan-African network of over 60 technology and innovation hubs across 25 African countries. Under the theme “Future of African Cities”, the Hivos Coworking Summit joined the Afrilabs annual gathering as a single event to provide more opportunities for the members of both networks to exchange knowledge, network, build collaborative relationships and share resources. The three-day conference was attended by more than 250 participants with some 80 coworking spaces and collaborative hubs represented.
