Age of Wonderland and the power of individual knowledge sharing
100 DAYS OF LEARNING is the 2017 programme of knowledge-platform Age of Wonderland, a global learning programme initiated by Hivos and Baltan Laboratories to exchange valuable life experiences with peers.
Innovators, scientists, engineers, artists, designers, social entrepreneurs and thinkers from around the world are invited to share stories and ideas gained from their own experience and practice in person, not through books or lectures. They meet during 100 ‘Days of Learning’ sessions taking place all over the world, ending on the 100th day at the end of 2017. Age of Wonderland believes that we need to embrace change on an individual level to inspire others to do the same, and in order to make the world a better place.
100 Days of Learning looks at the many different ways we learn and obtain knowledge. Sometimes it is more about unlearning what you (think you) already know. The focus is on the knowledge and experiences that have had a significant positive impact on someone’s daily or personal life and have given people tools to connect in a better way to others and our planet.
Days of Learning topics
Through an Open Call hundreds of proposals for a Day of Learning came in, many of which revolved around: Activism, Energy, Ecology, Learning by Doing, Self-consciousness, Community, Empathy, Empowerment and Economy. The Age of Wonderland team selected final Days of Learning topics based on their proximity, simplicity, equality, and innovative prospects. For more information, see the Manifesto.
Sample days of learning
The knowledge and experiences emerging from these days is being documented and collected on the online knowledge-sharing platform Medium. For example, there was a Day on the power and impact of Gratefulness by Branly López. Award-winning Zimbabwean actor, writer and director Tafadzwa Muzondo shared his story on turning a dirty old footbridge into a cultural success. Daniella Chavarria from Hochschule Anhalt shared Hack Your Mindset to Revolve Your Life - to teach young adults how to use storytelling techniques. You can follow the latest 100 Days of Learning on Medium.
100 Days of Learning during World Design in Eindhoven
The final 2017 edition of Age of Wonderland takes place at the World Design event from 21 to 29 October in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It is all about developing methods, tools and ideas for knowledge transfer, based on commonalities rather than potential differences.
Age of Wonderland plans to bring together all 100 Days in a large interactive installation in the People’s Pavilion, on the Ketelhuisplein. The cumulative knowledge and experiences will be shared with the public through ten daily talk shows. Furthermore, 20 Days of Learning will be held for the public in and around the Pavilion.
